Overview

The Past President is elected by the Membership at the Annual Meeting for a three year term first as President-Elect, then as President and finally as Past President. Each term begins July 1st

 

Time Commitment

Attends all Board Meetings, the Annual Meeting and any special meetings called by the President. The Past President must also be ready and willing to perform additional duties determined by the President.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supports and promotes the mission of the Congregation
  • Attends all Board Meetings prepared to discuss all agenda items
  • Serves as a non-voting Board Trustee
  • Provides continuity in leadership and is available to the President for advice, consultation, and assistance
  • Is a member of Leadership Development Committee
  • Is knowledgeable about Board policy and interprets Board decisions to congregation members when requested
  • Participates with the Finance Committee, the Board and the Minister in the preparation of the budget for the upcoming financial year
  • Helps develop and maintain and reviews annually the UUCC Policies and Procedures Manual and Board Manual
  • May perform other duties as described in the Bylaws, determined by the Board or determined in cooperation with the President

Qualifications

  • Is a member in good standing of the Congregation
  • Models behavior that supports the mission of the Congregation
  • Has an active and sustained engagement in the life of the Congregation
  • Has proven leadership and mediation ability
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Unitarian Universalism
  • Has a working knowledge of the Bylaws and Policies of the Congregation
