Scott Sargent has lived in the Columbia area since 1974, with the exception of four years in Spartanburg attending Wofford College, where he focused on science.  Upon graduation he returned to Columbia and, for nearly 25 years, worked for the American Red Cross Blood Services.  He then entered the graduate program in Religious Studies at USC and subsequently began a new career as an educator.  He has taught various courses for the Religious Studies Department over the last 11 years, ranging from the ancient world (Old Testament Prophets, Hindu Literature) to the modern one (Religion in the White House).  Scott’s wife Karen is a business analyst for a corporation that specializes in software used in the medical industry.  They have two adult daughters, Kara and Jess, who both live out of state.
