Music is a very important part of the service: adult and junior choirs, women’s harmony (Tapestry), Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir and a variety of talent in each service, as well as a song leader to lead familiar and new hymns from the two UU hymnals. Our music coordinator is Anna Hamilton.
The UUCC Adult Choir consists of a talented group who meet bimonthly at the congregation at 9:30 a.m. to practice the songs to be sung during the service later that morning. During the school year, practices are held on the second and fourth Sundays.
Encore is a Men’s Choral Group that enriches the philosophies and services of UUCC. We sing for at least one church service a month and rehearse on a Sunday morning. We also sing for special occasions such as church and local concerts and community rallies. Encore is open to men who like to sing and can carry a tune. Most of our work is two- and three-part music that is fairly easy to learn and perform. Come join us! New members always welcome.
Richard McLeod, director
The UUCC Junior Choir is made up of a talented group of young musicians, who meet 2-3 times a month to rehearse, and perform during a worship service approximately once a month. They talk about the history and meaning of the songs they sing, make up dances, learn sign language to lyrics, and even write original compositions. Most of all, they are able to get together to make meaningful music to share with others! Young people interested in joining the Junior Choir are encouraged to contact Brandi Mimbs at firstname.lastname@example.org or Anna Hamilton, our Music Coordinator.
UUCC Women’s Choir
You are invited to join the new UUCC Women’s Choir! Weekly rehearsals will be on Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m., in Classroom 5 (Sophia Lyon Fahs Room). Please contact Anna Hamilton, our Music Coordinator, with questions, or if you are interested in singing with the group but unavailable for the Thursday rehearsals.
Tapestry is our woman’s harmony group who come together to sing occasionally during our worship service.
