UU Faith Lab for High School Aged Unitarian Universalists
UU Faith Lab is a chance for UU youth to explore spiritual leadership from wherever they are, and experiment with mystery and wonder in their own context. The FaithLab community will gather just after the summer solstice, meet monthly around the full moons, and reunite on the fall equinox. Small groups will gather in between to delve more deeply into community care. Learn more, request information, and register here.
On Sunday, April 18, 2021 several CYRE students and their families and friends made a visit to the Belser Arboretum, located on Bloomwood Road, less than 2 miles from the UUCC. The weather was perfect, and everybody enjoyed spending time with nature and socially-distanced, masked fellowship with friends.
The Annual Chocolate Auction on February 9, 2020 raised over $2000 for the CYRE Boston trip this summer. The students would like to thank all of the chocolate chefs who donated delicious treats, the committee volunteers who worked diligently to make it all happen, and most especially the generous (and hungry!) congregation members who provide support throughout the year, every year. Thanks everybody!
On January 26, 2020 the CYRE hosted the annual CANstruction food drive and fundraiser for Harvest Hope Food Bank. The UU congregation generously donated over 300 canned, boxed, and bagged food items for the students to use as construction materials. The entries were very creative, and included a castle, a fort, a Chinese dragon, a scene from the Twilight Zone (“To Serve Man”), and the Harvest Hope logo. The 3rd-5th grade classroom won first place, but the real winners were our neighbors who depend on Harvest Hope. This year, we collected 437 pounds of donated food items and raised $430, which is enough to sponsor 2,150 meals for our neighbors in need! Thanks to all of the students and teachers for their hard work and dedication, and most especially to the congregation for their generosity.
