That homework is to review the report, Widening the Circle of Concern (“WCC”), which was generated by the UUA’s Commission on Institutional Change and was presented to the General Assembly in June 2020. The UUA is publishing an annual plan for how it is following through on its commitment to implement the report. We have purchased a few copies of the report, which you may check out for a week any Sunday in the Social Hall or from Andrea during the week (just call her first at (803) 799-0845). Also, if you prefer, you may download a digital copy at this link https://www.uua.org/files/pdf/w/widening_the_circle-text_with_covers.pdf  Reading this report will reveal both the depth and breadth of the changes the writers want to see in the UUA and associated congregations across the country.

The first recommendation to change the Bylaws to support the WCC report won’t take place at General Assembly until June 2023, but some of the changes are extensive and consequential, so we’ll need the time to determine UUCC feedback. Please take this month to read this WCC report. We are looking forward to resuming informed Congregational conversations at the end of October.

Time Sensitive Announcement!

The Article II Commission has been working through the feedback from General Assembly and is engaging in their next round of drafting. Once again, they would like your feedback as they proceed.  The topics for September are “Purposes of the UUA” and “Freedom of Belief.” (Topics for October will be announced soon.)  A link is available for personal feedback at the end of the hour’s session.

In September 2022, with the assistance of their new Outreach Team, they scheduled the Zoom sessions at various times for people to review and discuss the draft language.
